P2187 and P2189 Codes CEL Illuminated
The check engine light illuminated in my wife's 2007 Hyundai Entourage. I checked for vacuum leaks. None found. Changed the MAF Sensor and I reset the computer. I allowed the van to warm up to operating temperature and drove it 30 miles with no check engine light. I parked the car in the driveway and allowed it to cool down for 2 hours. I then started the car and the check engine light immediately illuminated.

This is adding fuel to compensate...
By chance, you did not put any E-85 in it did you ??
Not seen or heard of them codes with any of the LAMBDA since they came out in 2006.
Did not buy regular gas that may be contaminated with excessive alcohol ??
No breaks in the boot between MAF and throttle body ?
How did you inspect for vacuum leaks ?

I only use regular unleaded or mid grade unleaded fuel. There is only one gas station in town that sells E-85. Tested for vacuum leaks, none found. We use only Exxon fuel. I have changed the MAF sensor. Inspected the intake duct and have not found any cracks tears or holes.

I had an santa fe with an 2.7 and the intake plenum was leaking where you have the intake runner control the brass seal was leaking spray some brake cleaner or starting fluid as you manually move the shaft control back and forward. I work at a auto shop its called IRCM (INTAKE RUNNER CONTROL MANIFOLD) with codes P2187 and P2189 lean at idle bank 1 and bank 2

Back in October of 2010 my 2006 Kia Sedona (Entourage twin) with 53,000+ miles had a P0174 code (lean condition bank 2) and a P2187 code (lean condition at idle bank 1). The problem was a torn intake tube between the MAF and the throttle body. Kia replaced it for free under warranty. If you are the original owner, yours shodul still be covered under the 10y/100k mile warranty also.
