2010 Genesis Coupe - Key Fob Port on dashboard? What is the purpose?
Every dealer I went to had a different answer and google isn't helping much either.
With a push button start, you're given a pair of smart keys.
In the dash, there's a port for the smart key.
What, exactly, is the purpose of the port and what does it do?
Thanks.

In the event that the smart key does not work properly or just simply runs out of battery you can unlock the car manually using the actual key and once you are inside the car you would go ahead and place the key in the port and the car will recognize it and charge they key while you drive.

wrong
well i work at one for the top 10 dealerships in the southern region. And to answer the question at the key fob. The slot in the dash does not charge the remote the only reason for the slot is for if the battery going dead in the fob. you stick it there so the car will recognize the chip in the key. you can then start it
hoped it helped

I sure it would have a year ago when fantom originally asked the question. But since mp2010 already answered him a year ago and because fantom hasn't signed in here since then, I don't know how much help it will be for him now. But thanks anyway.
