Question '03 wont start

Hello I am new here and this is my first non-Chevy car in my life.

I bought this 03 SantaFe with 110k a few months ago. I have been laid off work this year so I have not driven it much. The last day I drove it was the 15 of Feb and it seemed fine. I live in Chicago so it has been cold and snowy out, if that matters.

But I tried to start it yesterday morning, Feb 25, and nothing happened. The key fob would not unlock the doors and no lights came on at all. I take the battery out and its drained so I recharge it.

Now the only things that seem to work at all are the red lights inside the door come on when I open the door and the "door ajar" light lights up on the dash. The dome lights come on, but only from the switch not from the doors being opened. And the light hooked up to my alarm works, but the alarm does not arm or do anything. The key fob will not open the doors. Nothing lights up on the dash except for the "door ajar" light. The headlights, brake lights and reverse lights all do not work either.

Does anyone have any idea what the most likely cause is? I was thinking about trying to remove the alarm and see if it is the problem.

Do you know how old the battery is? There's a good chance that it's
the original and it isn't taking a charge. I would start there. If you have
a tester you can test between the two posts to get the voltage reading
or take it to somewhere that sells car batteries and have them
test it for you. A lot of places will do it for free.

No I did not actually put it on a voltmeter. I just left it on my charger until that said it was full. I will try to see if that is it tonight. Thanks for the response.

No problem. By the way, leaving the vehicle in the cold and not
starting it can affect the battery. Good luck.
