2002 Santa Fe won't start without jump
Hey guys,
I'm new here, and I have a problem.
I have a 2002 Santa Fe that is having starting problems. The car had been starting and running fine, but the other night I went out and my car wouldn't start. It just made a slight clicking noise when turning ignition. I got jump started and it started fine and ran fine. Well, now that's the only way it starts.
Here's what I've done so far:
Battery has been changed.
Alternator has been checked and is fine.
Starter has been checked and is fine.
Computer diagnostics done and it is fine.
The mechanics at the local garage said they can't figure out what the problem is. They seem to think it could be a security system that is malfunctioning and not letting the car ignition work. This is the standard system that came with the car. Is this possible?
Here's a weird thing too...Since I've had this problem, whenever I have the heat on the fan makes a louder noise than unsual.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Vince

RE: 2002 Santa Fe won't start without jump
Hi, I heard of someone having a similar a problem recently and what they eventually found was that the battery earth connection to the body was not making a good connection. Cleaned it up, put it back, turned the key and away it went! No problem since.
Hope this helps.
