Default 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe Malfunction Stop Lamp switch

I just spoke with Hyundai customer service recall area and was told that the 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe was not included on the recall of malfunction stop lamp switch. Does this switch just break by itself once the warranty expired? They are not adding 2005 Santa Fe if there's not enough people reporting that they are having this problem on their 2005 Santa Fe. The dealer was supposed to keep a tab on the problems that happens to the cars that they fix and report it if there's enough people having the same problem, does that really happen?

If you have the same problem on your 2005 Santa Fe malfunctioning stop lamp switch, please call the recall department and report this. The more people reporting, the better we have a chance of having them fix the problem without us paying for it. This is not a cheap part. Just the part alone is almost $300 plus we have to pay for labor also.
Thank you.

Technically, no, the 2005 Santa Fe is not part of the recall. Are you experiencing a problem?

And there is no way the part is $300. You were misinformed. The part sells for $4.47 online (list price is $5.14):

Select: 2005, Santa Fe, Electrical, Chassis Electrical, Switches, Stoplamp Switch

It's located on the brake pedal and takes about 5 minutes to replace:

The 9xxxx-3K000 switch is just under $5 at our place, and we have a box full of them... the "092" recall still pops up even after some 3+ yr now.. using them on cars in recall range that do not get recall per Hyundai also..
