Cold weather engine ticking/knocking
I have a 2019 Santa Fe with the 2.4L engine with only 13k. When the temp drops below freezing the engine ticks very loudly. As the temp gets closer to zero degrees the ticking noise gets louder and engine noise in the cabin becomes very loud too. I'm curious if any others are experiencing this. The dealer said there has been a few complaints but that's just the way it is. Not acceptable, I love the car when it warm but need this issue resolved.
Update: I've found some example videos of the GDI fuel injectors ticking from other cars and I'm certain this is the case. I just purchased the car used and suspect it was on the car lot for some time causing the fuel to degrade. Super oxygenated, ethanol fuel turns bad pretty quickly. After adding some Marvel Mystery oil, which sounds cheesy but it's actually a good product similar to Seafoam, the sound is significantly quieter and sometimes non-existent.

That's a GDI engine. I don't own one and I don't have practical experience with this. But I avoided buying a CDI engine car. My reasoning was that the intake valves of GDI engines don't get that cleaning shower at every injection like sequential fuel injection engines do. Thus GDI engines develop carbon deposits on the intake valves and that affects the airflow and causes at the minimum rough running. CRC makes a product that can help remove deposits.
I would consider using the highest grade non-ethanol fuel and adding Lucas Oil Fuel Treatment only to see if it makes a difference at all. I can't promise you anything but the added cost is low enough to give it a try.
