Default Hyundai Santa Fe Coolant Flush

Hello all I'm new here and currently trying to perform a coolant flush on 2.7L 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. I am trying to find a suitable place to drain the coolant. I was looking at two methods, drain through the valve or use the Peak coolant flush kit and force the old coolant out through a radiator cap with a water hose? Anythoughts? Thanks.

If you drain through the valve, you can capture most if not all of the coolant and dispose of it properly. I think flushing the coolant out through the radiator neck is illegal in all states since there is no easy way to collect or capture the coolant.

Yes I want to avoid doing the latter but the drainage valve is covered by the radiator support frame and is only accessible through the holes in the frame with a screw driver. I cannot see what it is I need to unscrew in order to drain properly. I wish I had a picture.

The last few cars I've done, I just dropped the lower radiator hose into a large bucket and then refilled with a 50/50 mixture of coolant and distilled water.

If you do a drain and refill every 1-2 years, you don't really have to perform a flush.

Then again, if the coolant system has been ignored for 3-5 years, a flush is best.

Let us know how it goes.
