Key won't turn

Key won't turn
My 05 Santa Fe's switch has been locking up with me, at certain time neither keys will turn in the ignition. doesn't matter if your on level or sloped surface. We have to keep fiddling with it, mashing the brakes, moving the steering wheel, the gear shift etc. and finally it will turn, Of course it doesnt do this for the Tech! and says unless he can duplicate it that the only way he can replace it is to charge us.
Is there anyone else having this problem?

RE: Key won't turn
Your tech is not competent. He should be able to examine the system and figure out what's wrong and replace it under warranty. If there is another dealer you can go to, I would try them.
I'm not familiar with the Santa Fe in this regard, but most cars have interlock cables that prevent you from starting the car unless it is in Park. I suspect a sticky interlock cable. If it only happens when the car is cold, let them keep the car overnight and they should be able to duplicate it.
