Default strong heat vapors from engine

My Wife just bought an 07 Santa Fe with 24k. The temperature needle is in the normal position but there is a very strong hot engine smell coming from under the hood which we notice if we are stopped at a light etc.. and have the windows down. All engines obviously get really hot and release heat vapors, but i've never smelled whilst in the car. It's not oil burning for the record. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

Stiil warranty, take it in for inspection.

Look around at the upper radiator hose to fitting at engine.. look for white chalky staining..

2.7 or 3.3 ?

Recent ECM update for either engine, couple recalls, and fuse box for SRS codes, and timing chain tensioners if not done for hash/rattle on cold start (3.3L).. have dealer run warranty info and see what all been done.

It does have the white chalky stuff right at the radiator hose fitting. What does that mean? Oh and it's the 3.3
