Default Tech Question: A/C wont shut off

Hello, in my 03 Santa Fe 2.7l AWD when the a/c button is in the off position (Light is off) and I have the fan on to circulate the air, the a/c is on blowing cold air.. then turn the **** to the OFF position and the a/c turns off. Any ideas??
Even when I have the heat on the A/C is on.
Thanks KeGGeR

What position is the other ****? If it's on defrost, the A/C will be on to dehumidify the air but the A/C light won't be on.

Its not just dry air. Its Really cold!! I will check the different vent positions to see if there is a difference. But your saying that it will only be on Dehumidify when on the windshield vents. Im pretty sure I always have it on windshield and floor vents.

Thanx. If you know more with this info let me know.

If you have it on windshield and floor then the A/C will always be on regardless if the A/C light is lit.

Even with the heat on?? That is kinda silly don't you think??

We have owned 3 Tiburons and I had a pony for my first car.

There is no "heat" to turn on. You just adjust the temperature and adjust where the air flow from. You can get hot or cold air from all settings.

No, I don't think it's silly because you need the A/C to dehumidify the air when you defrost the windshield in the winter time. You want both heat and A/C to do that. Every Hyundai uses the A/C on windshield defrost. Check your owners manaul. See pages 1-69 thru 1-83. If you don't want the A/C on, turn the setting to something other than "Windshield Defrost" or "Windshield Defrost and Floor".
