Default Tools for 07' Santa Fe rear brakes?

Going to replace my sis in laws rear pads.

Questions:

Any specialty tools required?

Size of C-Clamp needed for caliper squeeze?

12 pt or 6 pt socket size for caliper removal?

I dont have my old $50k tool box any more so if I have to get anything I need to know in advance.

Thanks tons for your help.

My questions to you:
- FWD or AWD?
- Are you replacing the rotors or just the pads?
- Are you also replacing the shoes for the drum parking brake in the rotor hat?

Answers to your questions:

1. No

2. Screw C-clamps, use this instead:

3. 6-point

PROCEDURE TO REPLACE REAR BRAKE PADS
1. Loosen the guide rod bolt (A) and pivot the caliper up out of the way.

2. Replace shims (A), pad retainers (B), and brake pads (C).

3. Push the piston in the cylinder using a SST (09581-11000) (or the tool I listed above)

4. Pivot the caliper down and tighten the guide rod bolt.

Tightening torque (lb-ft): 15.9 ~ 23.1

5. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Thanks for the response.

FWD
Just pads
no on parking brk

Nice little tool. Not sure where to get it, probably more expensive that a simple C-Clamp. But sure, easy nifty tool.

6 point socket, any idea of size? Presume metric? Being an old dog that only bought american and used sae I'll have to buy the socket, trying to have everything ready & not turn it into an all day affair having to go buy tools after the job is started.

Not expensive at all. Most auto parts stores carry them. Probably less than $10. Here online:

Amazon.com: Car / Truck Disc Brake Pad Spreader Puller: Home Improvement

Yes, metric. I want to say 12mm but I don't know that for sure. But that's usually the most common size.
