06 Sonata Phantom Shifting

06 Sonata Phantom Shifting
Spilled Coke onto the shifter of my '06 Sonata two nights ago. Went for a drive that same day and the car went into a D1 mode and wouldn't allow me to shift up in manual mode, and nor would it shift on its own. Since then I've taken it to a mechanic to have him look at it and now the mechanic can't recreate the same problem; it's acting fine and shifting normal as it should.
My question, do I need to worry about this car possibly reverting to the electronic problem it was having before? Will it actually shift down on its own from 5th gear to 1st while I'm driving down the highway at 65-75 mph? That doesn't sound like a scenario that I want to experience. Do these cars have a control that will force the car to just shut off if that were to happen instead of causing the tranny to, basically, explode?
Or, am I just going to be playing Russian roulette every time I get behind the wheel of this thing now?
Any advice, or experience on this issue will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
