1997 Sonata V6 fuel / temp problem???
Hi
I'm hoping someone might be able to give me a steer in the right direction with a problem ...
I have 1997 Hyundai Sonata 2.7 litre V6. When the car gets to operating temperature - usually after driving around 10 - 15km, the power drops completely for a second or so - no longer. Car loses power, feels like a stall, rev counter just drops to 0 and comes back.
After that it is like I am driving with 5 cylinders for a while - reduced power, running a bit rough. Feels like it is going to stall if I don't keep the revs up. When I stop, turn the car off, and try to restart it is like it is flooded.
Engine turns over and over ... first 4 or 5 attempts, no luck. Then it will start ... only just, one cyclinder at a time is what it feels like. For the next while, it feels like the car is going to stall then slowly comes right.
Interesting note: whenever I start the car (from cold - or whenever) I can't touch the accelorator or it will flood (or seems to flood) and won't start without a number attempts ... just like I mentioned above.
I can give you the full mechanical history of the car in a separate post if that will help. Currently done 155,000km, thats just under 100,000miles.
Mechanics are stumped!!!
Thanks if anyone has any suggestions ...
