Is a 2.4 liter engine a contact motor
Hey guys, i just bought a 01 sonata with a 2.4 liter. It had a timing belt break. now it had a new timing belt installed, crank sensor and reluctor wheel. They told me that it did not have spark. but i have checked all wiring to coils and they check good. they have put 2 computers and two coils in it. I checked compression and found that 2 and 3 have little to no compression. I was wanting to know if it is a contact motor?
if you could help me out it would save me alot of trouble from tearing this thing down.

Do you mean an interference engine? Yes, it is. If the belt breaks, the pistons will hit (and bend/break) the valves.
Read this thread about some engines that had the belt break: https://www.hyundaiforum.com/forum/h...low-miles-8006
The timing belt should be replaced every 60,000 miles. How many miles were on the belt that broke?
