heya folks!

Got a strange thing happening with my auto transmission. I have a 2.5L V6 and my transmission pops out of gear when I put it in drive from a stop. I have to shift down to low gear for it to engage before I can take off. Once I start to accelerate from a stop, I have to let off the gas and shift the handle to D for it to shift from there. It does seem to function normally after than including acceleration kick downs during normal driving. The exception is that it will not kick down into first when I step on the gas hard from a low speed. Once my speed gets below about 5 mph, it once again kicks out of gear and I have to start the process over again. If I don't let off the gas (while accelerating from a stop) before I manually shift from Low to D, it will also pop out of gear.

This is quite maddening!

I'm hoping somebody knows this transmission well enough to give me an hondest answer.

Did you ever figure this out? Seems similar to my '01 Sonata's issue. I've tracked it down, with help from here, to a possible wiring harness issue in the transmission.
