Default another timming belt question

i have a 2003 sonata with the 2.7 v6. it only has 39000 miles on it.i bought it new right off the truck.i have only had to do regular mantince on it.brakes change tranny fluid ect.
is it safe to wait untill i reach 60000 mile or should i change it sooner?

Personally, I would. Hyundai calls for a belt replacement every 60K miles or 4 years whichever comes first. Your car may only have 39K but it's 6 years old.

Since you are the original owner your warranty is still good for another 4 years. If you belt breaks now it will cause a lot of engine damage and Hyundai will void your warranty because you didn't replace the belt at the 4-year mark like they require to maintain the warranty. That means you will have to pay for a new engine out of your own pocket.

So, it's up to you. Do you want to risk a few thousand dollars to buy a new engine if the belt breaks or would you rather spend a few hundred dollars now to be secure and maintain your warranty?
