Default Brake noise

Hi

I have a 2002 Hyundai Sonata that has a high pitched squeal when every the brake pedel is depressed. I had the brakes checked out by a mechanic and they said they are very good. I have no problem stopping but attention and head turning from others regarding the squeal is frustrating-any ideas what this may be?

I think I would find another mechanic. They should be able to figure out what it is. If you explained what the issue is and they drove it and experienced it themselves but still say the brakes are fine then you shouldn't be trusting them to work on your car. Brake noises can be difficult to diagnose over the internet but a competent mechanic should not have any problem figuring it out when they have the car there in front of them. It's safe to say that the noise you describe is not normal.
