Default Crank no Fire 2004 Sonata

Hello, wondering if anyone has any light to shed on the following: I have a problem with my 2004 Hyundai Sonata 4cyl. Was driving when the battery light came on a started losing power, followed by a loud whacking sound. Pulled over and both alternator and serpentine belts are off and somewhat shredded. Upon further inspection some pieces had gotten wrapped around the crank sensor. opened up, cleaned all out, replaced belts, pulley's move free, cams good. tried to start and it cranks but won't turn over. checked spark, air, ignition coils, fuses, relays all good. same result, crank no start. sounds like no compression. when it sits overnight upon initial attempt it will compress 1x but not enough to fire. then crank with nothing to fire, crank crank crank- turns over but something is missing. Please advise if you are able. Much appreciated for your time. Christian - Bartlett, IL

How many miles on the car? When was the timing belt changed?
