Default GPS w/ BACKUP CAMERA INSTALL

Kenwood DNX5120
Boyo VTK350

---

Any surprises with this install I should be aware of or is it as straight forward as it seems?

It's for my friends 2006 Sonata. I've never worked on this car before so I thought I would post here in case there were any surprises I should be aware of. Install is 10am today, so I'll be checking back and posting for help if any is needed.

Thanks for any info you are able to provide!

- Fred

EDIT: I did do a brief search, but it's late and I didn't run across much..please direct to any existing threads as necessary. Again, I'm just wondering if there are any surprises I should be aware of. Thanks again.

Rear cameras, also known as backup cameras, allow you to see what's behind your vehicle without having to look around. While this device is common in many new car models, you can add a rear camera to your car if it is not included.

Here is step by step guide:

Purchasing the Necessary Equipment
  1. Buy a mountable backup camera for your specific vehicle
  2. Get an external monitor if you want to keep your existing rear-view mirror.
  3. Purchase an internal monitor for a less obtrusive device
  4. Buy power and video cords if your camera and monitor didn’t include them

Installing the Camera Cables
  1. Take off your rear license plate
  2. Remove your trunk’s interior panel
  3. Drill a small hole in the license plate mounting area
  4. Place a rubber grommet around your camera cable
  5. Run the camera cable into your trunk
  6. Locate your car’s 2 reverse light wires
  7. Strip and separate your car’s reverse light wires
  8. Fuse your camera wires with the reverse light wires
