Smile Need OBDII info.

I have a 2005 V6 Sonata. Went to test it yesterday and its not getting power to the OBDII reader. It works on my other Sonata and Elantra. Been trying to figure out where the fuse is for this OBDII data link. It never power ups the reader at all. Would any of you know where the fuse link is for this unit. I've followed it out every where I can think of and so far nothing. Noting I see mentions it in the fuse panel or fuse box under the hood. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated. I have the 2005 electrical manual but it takes someone familiar with schematic diagrams to under stand....

Any advice would be much appreciated...

Pin 9 is source voltage, and pins 4 & 5 is grounds.... DVOM be your friend here..

Source voltage to Pin 9 will come from "SUNROOF" 15A fuse in engine compartment fuse box

Or it could just be pin #9 or ground pins may be pushed out to the back...

Default Still working on it guys....So far, no luck....

I'll keep you posted....Rained today so took a break on it. Still no power to that obd2 unit.

I'm betting its just a loose ground somewhere or other wire and I just have not hit it right yet. Thanks for replys, much appreciated.

Smile Update on OBDII problem....

Pin #9 has no power. Fuse in passenger compartment is good, fuse in engine compartment is good. Sunroof works off same ones. So it appears that the feed wire to pin 9 is broken or cut somewhere along the way. I've looked all over but can't find where. Any reason that any of you know of why I can't tap that wire and pull power from a different point, say cigarette lighter right there? I'm thinking 12 volts is all it needs.....

Car runs perfect, with only 36k miles on it, just Emissions can't pull codes so can't get it passed thru inspection...

Input most appreciated..... Swampy in Connecticut....

Any other area thats hot all the time? I'm assuming that 39 is just power and all the other wires are reading the sensors elsewhere... Correct?

Thumbs up Took awhile, but I found the problem.

The car had been hit when it had 3,000 miles on it. It seems a big bundle of wires pass right thru where it got hit. The looked fine, and ran fine but no OBDII signal. It would not even bring it up. After searching under the dash, fuses and everywhere it looked like it passed thru on the schematic I was about to give up and sell it for junk. Decided to check just in case they missed something. Looked ok except for a cut on the wrappings for the entire bundle of wires. Peeled them open and there say 3 broken wires. Soldered them together, retaped and that was it. The cruise control worked again and the OBDII plug. Took it down, passed no problem. Guess you can't trust the repair people 100 percent to check it all. I never knew until 2 years later when it had to go thru emissions....
Many thanks for all the suggestions, I did try all of them and they all made sense. Just was not the problem, but it sure could have been.

Take care, happy days are here again.
