Default New Member Alternator Issue

Hey Guys,

I have a 1999 Sonata, and the alternator is gone. It started whining like a siren, for a while and then the battery light and the brake light started flickering. Then, in the end it just stopped ree-charging the battery. So I removed the alternetor from the engine, but couldnt get it out of the engine compartment. Does any one have any insight as to how to remove the alternator from the engine compartment? I will appreciate any help you can give me on this one.

Pete

You did not specify which engine is in the car.

Hey Chuck,

We were able to pull it out from the top. We had to remove a wire harness bracket and then just maneuver it out from the top of the engine. All in all it took about an hour, but it took two pairs of hands to get it up and out while the other set of hands cleared the way from the wires and hoses. Thanks for all your input guys.
