Newbie 2008 Sonata SE owner
Got my 2008 Sonata SE on Wednesday.
Actually I wasn't in the market for a car, but my "second" vehicle (a 1995 buick clunker) was deemed by my mechanic as now "unsafe". I also own a 1999 Olds Alero.
I was going to give the clunker to my son to drive during the summer to go back and forth from college to home while he is taking summer classes and working, about a 45 minute drive.
But since the car was no longer safe to drive the wife and I figured we better get another car.
Looked at some used ones but my wife decided she didn't want another used car with "X" amount of miles on it so we decided to look new
We were about to close a deal on an 2008 Elantra GLS for about $17,600. Then the salesman offered us a 2008 Sonata SE that listed at close to $24K for just over $18K that was a demo with 1037 miles on it. The wife fell in love immediately with the Sonata so that's what we decided on.
I'm sure that with the 2009 Sonatas coming in the dealer wanted to sell the 2008 so that's probably the reason for the great price on it.
This is my 2nd Hyundai. I actually owned a brand new 1991 Scoupe that I finally had to give up the ghost on in 1998 after it had about 120,000 miles on it since the tranny was just about dead!! I probably would have bought a 1998 Tiburon but unfortunately at the time there were no Hyundai dealers in the area....go figure since the early 90's.
So I bought a new '98 Saturn SC Coupe. I loved that car till my son wrecked it in 2004. Had the Alero since then and got the 2nd clunker car for free from my brother in law about 2 years ago.
So as I said, I really wasn't expecting to buy a new car, but my wife and I really like the Sonata and it's nice to be part of the Hyundai family again.
If the Sonata lasts and is a durable as my '91 Scoupe (as I am quite sure it will be no doubt!!!) then I'll be a happy camper.
End of my long short story!

RE: Newbie 2008 Sonata SE owner
thanks for the welcome.
my Sonata SE is a 3.3 V6 in bright silver. just a beautiful car. it's so nice to get into a car with comfortable seats and a comfortable ride. plus it's nice to be able to COMFORTABLY get into the car without hitting my head or trying to contort myself just to get in.
