starting issue
Hey,
I have a 2003 Sonata with a 6 cylinder. Lately it has been having a starting problem. When Iturn the key over the engine turns over but the car takes alot of extra cranking to get it to start. The car runs and drives normally with no Service engine soon light. Does anyone have any ideas??

You may wish to ask Kellen128 if the problem was resolved. Beside fuel pump issues, this problem can be caused by bad spark plugs and poor timing. If the car hasn't had a tune up in some time, I would start there.

RE: starting issue
I am suspecting a fuel pump that is not holding pressure. Another probable cause would be oil drains and sits after a period of not driving and has to be pushed back up into the engine at startup. Other auto body parts to inspect are injector seal which may be leaking and your cold start injector/switch. Inspect if you have a fuel leak as it may cause the air to get in.
