Default Testing the Cooling Fan Control Module

Does anyone know how to test the cooling fan control module or the signal from the ECM?

I'm having trouble with a 2006 V6 Sonata where the fan seems to work intermittently. When it works, the fan seems to kick on at about 200 degrees and then back off at about 194 degrees (temperatures read from scan software), but then other times the temperature will get around 207 and the fan still hasn't come on. The fan also doesn't seem to kick on when you turn the A/C and that doesn't seem right to me.

I have 12V at the connector to the single pin connector and pins 1 and 3 of the 3 pin connector are grounded. It seems that pin 2 of that connector comes from the ECM, but I can't seem to find what that signal is supposed to be. i.e. is it supposed to be some type of 5V signal to turn the fan on or a specific resistance to ground?

All of the connections at the module and the fan seem to be clean.

I believe my problem is within the Fan Control Module, but they aren't cheap, so I hate to order one just to find out my actual problem is with the ECM.

If anyone could give me any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Wayne
