Default 2000 tib having trouble

hello, my name is zac. I have a 2000 tiburon and it has alittle trouble starting up, i have to step on the gas some what to get it going, when its idling it stays aroung 1000 to 800 rpms always moving. then when i drive it at least 10-20 minutes its starts making a knocking noise in the engine and when going slow it stalls out. It starts smoking and temp gauge goes up. when it stalls out theres smoke from the oil fill and dip stick. Any one have the same issues and fixed it ??? desperatly need help its my only car and no money for anything serious !!!

Sounds like an engine near death. Check the compression and do a cylinder leakdown test. I'll bet the rings are broken or leaking.

What's "a little overheating"? If the car overheated you could have blown a head gasket and caused these problems.

ya alittle over heating is an under statement. i was driving around noticed some smoke under the hood, popped the hood and let the car cool off, through ignorance and not changing it after a couple days i believe this is why, but i put a thermostat in today and a new fuel filer, dont ask about the filter and it cranked but no start, im going to check the spark plugs to see if the engine is flooded and then go about checking the pressure of the injection system. hopefully i dont have a blow engine but time will tell.

ok some good news coming. i changed the fuel filter after some difficulties. thats finished the right way. then i went to start her up and nothing. all she does when i turn the key is crank the motor. i checked the bolt on the left side of the fuel injection rail for pressure. none checked the fuse for the fuel pump it works. i did not hear anything from the fuel pump when i turned the key to on. this should mean the fuel pump is bad right. if so how could i go about changing it or at least getting it started to where i can take it to a garage. any info would be greatly appreciated !!!

Well, the fuel pump is located in the gas tank itself, accessed via a panel under the rear seat. Not sure what your comfort level is when it comes to opening up the tank.
