I loved my Tib. I had a 2004 GT for almost 4 years and it was great. I only had one problem with it (the BCM) and it was replaced for free in about an hour by the dealer. Very reliable and lots of performance parts. However, insurance isn't cheap on it. As a 16 year old, you will pay a a lot even for a base 4-cyl. The GT V6 will cost you even more.

if you can find a 1st or 2nd generation tibby, the insurance won't be as much as a newer one, but still since you're 16, any sport car will cost you more then say, an escort, lol. but all tibby's have been proven to be reliable, fun, performance oriented, and eye appealing. if you want to get an idea of the performance side, check out www.dragtimes.com , browse for tiburons. if you want to see a large selection of each generations styleing, check out ebay, i wouldn't recommend buying one off there, but it will give you an idea of thier price from 96-08.

oh, and i highly recommend a 5 speed if you go with a 4 banger, or a v6, but if you want to have fun with the 4 banger, get a 5speed, or you'll be bored.

There are only 2 generations of Tiburon:

1st: RD 1996-2001
- 1996-98 = RD1
- 1999-01 = RD2

2nd: GK 2003-present
- 2003-04 = GK1
- 2005-06 = GK2
- 2007-up = GK3

i meant styles, dont' get all technical with generations. but 96-99 had differenct front ends and slight differences in the body then 00-01. 00-01 had integera style head lights. 96 and 97 came with a 1.8L maybe some 98's too. plus they did away with the fx option in 00-01. just trying to help you dude.

Don't get technical? This is a forum where people are looking for accurate information. Technical is exactly what we should be. Inaccurate information doesn't help.

You'll probably be OK with the insurance then. Like Rdturbulencesuggested, get a 5-speed instead of an auto. With the lighter weight of the RD Tiburons it will be almost as quick as a V6 GK Tiburon.
