Well I a have 2001 tiburon it been setting for about 6 months.I finally got it out.I put gas in it and everytime the pump would click off like it was full but it had a half of tank in it. After spending 10 min. at the pump it was finally full thenI went to start it and it would not start but after cranking a couple times it would start after that.It starts up right away.It only does that when i put gas in it.

 

Probably your vent hoses are plugged. Have you topped off in the past?

 

no I never topped off. I owned the car for 2 1/2 years. Say the vent hoses are plugged how wouldI clean the hoses out?

 

Fuel pump.
Gas it what lubricates your pump and keeps it healthy.
I've seen this many times where a car sat a while and needed a new pump.
From the sitting and not being started, the fuel sat stagnant in the tank and the pump completely dried out. Replace the pump and you'll be good.

 

wellI have started it before. This is the first time I have put gas in it a while. it sat with a halfof tank.
if it was the pump would it sputter when i hammer it ? just wondering

 

Yes.
And you're fuel pressure would be way low.

 

It runs fine. I can start it all day and drive it all day long. Just whenI put gas in itdon't want to start up right away.
