Dude..... you gonna need the belt cog off the back of the center hub... and you tossing it across the concrete,,,,,, gonna damage the cog.
2.7 pulley seperation is about once or twice a month around here, last check we had 3 on the shelf..
Pulley is $103, lower cover if damaged is $53, and drive belt is $25
Here is 1 of some unknown origin -
Here is a Tucson that came in on hook for timing belt.... Not stated on ticket that belt was flipped off/damsged and pulley laying along side the road somewhere --

bought a new crankshaft sprocket and pulley thats why i was tossing around the old ones,
those prices must b american, ive already got a new crankshaft pulley for just over 300 dollars cdn, and the crankshaft sprocket was 55 dollars cdn.
the tucsons a shame nice pics thats just what happened to me, i wouldnt mind so much if this happened when i was covered under the warranty.

Is that a common problem for 2.7L Tucsons? I'm approacing 54,000 miles on my '06. I guess they'll check it out when I take it to the dealer for the 60k mile service some time next year.

Where is "around here"? Both look fairly rusty. A lot of salt used in the winter where you are?
Yes, we get a fair amount of salt here (hiding from those who might know me )

Not just Tucson... anything with the 2.7 is vulnerable.. Tucson, Sonata, Santa Fe. See same thing 0n 3.0/3.5 XG & Santa Fe, though not as often..

Keep eyes & ears open.. common complaint is power steering stops/goes (easy-hard - bumpy feel when turning steering wheel) , or noise under hood

Just curious, what kind of noises does it make. I just took my 2006 Tucson in, harmonic balancer has an obvious vibration and sometimes it sounds like there is a tapping sort of noise under the hood but not always. Has 154,000K, first timing belt change at 80,000 at a Hyundai dealer.

Hello all, I just had the crankshaft pulley separate on my girlfriend's 2000 sonata in the same way described in this thread. Is it possible to repair this without taking the timing chain cover off? I am a somewhat experienced diy'er but by no means an expert mechanic. I'd like to fix it myself but don't want to get in over my head. also if anyone knows of detailed instructions concerning this repair online anywhere, a link would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
