Default sputtering tiburon

I currently have a 2004 tiburon 5 speed manual with about 62,000 miles on it. The car sputters when you're accelerating out of first, second, and third gear. It seems to sputter the most when the air conditioning is on. Its been happening for about 10,000 miles. I brought it to Hyundai and they couldn't figure the problem out even hooking it up to their machine. Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions.

when you say sputtering, do you mean its just making noise, or losing power, or does it lack power until it hits a certain rpm? try to describe the problem a little more in detail and we may be able to help. oh and is it the 2.0 or 2.7L?

Yes, is this a 4 or 6 cylinder Tib? Does it have any modifications (intake, filter, etc)? It could be a bad or leaking intake, an over oiled filter that has coated the MAf or even a bad throttle position sensor.

the car is a 2.0 liter and it seems to have very poor power at low rpms. what i mean by sputtering is that its very jerky and not smooth at low rpms when the air conditioning is on in first, second, and third gear. once the car reaches 40 mph and higher it runs perfectly. everything in the car is stock. i also use 87 octane gas.

have you done a tune up on the car since you've owned it? Have you had your fuel pressure checked? Sounds like it could be anything from a sensor to it simply starving for fuel or not getting consistant spark. But i'm not sure, if you havn't changed spark plugs or wires, try that. My tiburon was doing something similar and once i changed the plugs and wires, it was fixed. But there are a lot of smart people on here, they will most likely give you a better answer.

^^^ I agree. If the plugs and wires are old, I'd get them changed.

i just had the 60,000 mile maintenance done on the car. Timing belt, water pump, cam seals, crank seal, and the valve cover gasket set were all just replaced. i believe i've had two tune ups done on the car. i haven't had the fuel pressure checked. i was wondering if you think i should try different octanes of gas? i have even heard that the wires in the engine could be bad because maybe they get too hot and they start adhearing to each other.

my check engine light just came on the other day, luckily. i brought it to hyundai and it said there's a canister valve problem. hopefully that will take care of the sputtering. if you have any other suggestions that would be great.

The problem you are describing about your Hyundai is EXACT same problem I am having with my 2001 Hyundai Elantra. Where you able to find out what was wrong? Thanks.
