Default 2007 Tucson Alternator Removal (Help)

Greetings, I'm new to the forum and have a question. My girlfriend has a 2007 Tucson and the alternator is seized up. I have never worked on any Hyundai vehicles before so i'm kinda lost here. First i was blown away that the alternator is tucked away in behind the motor.. lol So i have managed to remove the alternator bolts and have it let go and it's sitting on top of the CV shaft, the problem I have run into is how exactly do i get it out of there now? I have read that you may have to back off the motor mounts a little to get some extra wiggle room.. sounds like a lot of work to me. Is there another way? I was thinking about trying to remove some of the suspension components and trying to get it out through the wheel well... Any advice would be greatly appreciated, like i said i am lost when it comes to Hyundai's.

Telling us what engine was in the Tucson might have gotten you more replies. Putting it in the Tucson forum might also have helped. I'll move it now.

Hello,

I just did this today on a 2007 V6 Tuscon SE V6 4WD. The process up to the point of alternator sitting on top of the CV freely is well documented on Youtube and pretty straight forward. However, you run into not being able to get the thing out no matter what you do. I ended up simply taking off the bracket (just two screws, then I just turned the clip on the hose itself) that holds the two hoses to the left of the alternator off (that is, REAR of the alternator), and once I did this I could wiggle it out. I had to use quite a bit of force, pushing the hoses over and around the pulley, but it did work. Once the pulley was past the hoses, it came out relatively easy. I used a long flat head screwdriver, pretty big to kind of pry it past the hoses. I will include a pic of the orientation I used. If in the future the picture does not load, it is such that the pulley is at pointing towards the rear of the car, if you are looking directly at it. C D ... if the C is the pulley it should look like that coming out.

Sorry the picture sucks, its the only one I took and I was so frustrated at that point I just wanted to put it all back together and be done with it.

Correction: That bracket only holds the one hose, the bigger of the two. But you still need to get past them both.

I had an 01 Escape 3.0. Had to pull the Axle Shaft out. And roll the alternator out through the wheel well.
