Heater not blowing hot air 2016 Tucson Limited
#12
All HVAC functions appear to work fine like; blower, fan speed, A/C, etc. The only problem is that no hot air comes out of the heater. The air temperature does not change when the **** is turned to hot. Someone told me that it's likely a bad blend door actuator. Does this vehicle even have a blend door actuator? If so, I'm looking for someone who can tell me how to determine if it is bad and provide instructions to replace the blend door actuator.

I'm going through the same issue right now. I ran the on-board diagnostics on the control module and got a code 33. This code doesn't jive with my 2016 Tuscon but on an older Tuscon, it represents a passenger temp door potentiometer Open or Short. The potentiometer is located inside the actuator. I started to take apart the dash as that's what the service manual says in order to access the passenger door actuator. After two hours, I said screw it and put it all back together except I left the glove box out. I decided to cut an access door on the left hand side of the glove box housing. This allowed me to remove the floor vent extension and access the actuator for removal. Once the actuator was removed I inspected it, opened it up and everything was intact. I hooked up the harness and verified that the motor inside the actuator was working with the selected temp setting. I then turned the temp door by hand and made sure if wasn't jammed. I reinstalled the actuator and brought the tuscon up to temp and slowly turned the temp setting on the controller to hot, sync on. The passenger side started to blow hot for the first time in months. I cycled between hot and cold for 30 mins, making sure if wouldn't fail. It in fact failed again and I determined that the internal potentiometer is in fact bad. I'm going to verify that I have cold and hot voltage at the actuator and that I have ref voltAge and a good ground. If I have all that then the controller is good, I'll order a new actuator. I'll try and take some pics and post result after the pin out of the harness from the controller.

You do have to dismantle the lower dash below the steering wheel and remove an air duct to get access to the screws, it's not too hard, just take your time. Good luck

I figured it out. If your heat stops working on you 2016 Tucson, it's the blend door actuator on the driver side, it's right above the gas pedal.
