veracruz towing
anybody out there do any heavy towing with their veracruz???
i'm pulling a 17' hybrid TT . around 2200 #empty.
have to say i'm a little bit disappointed with it on the highway . the car really has to be manually shifted to maintain speed, and i still have to tweak out a sway problem ...
wish Hyundai would offer a small v-8 like VW does -it would help a lot .

Yeah, but what is the weight loaded? Max towing for the Veracruz is only 3500-lbs.
If you want a V8 go with the Kia Borrego:

7-passenger, body on frame, RWD or 4WD and available with the 4.6L V8 from the Hyundai Genesis sedan. 7500-lbs towing capacity with the V8.

Towing
I have been towing my 19 foot Searay through mountain passes and have had no problems other then gas mileage. You need trailer brakes of some sort though. The manual shifter is a real blessing to find the sweet spot. Weight for the boat and trailer is 3675lbs.
With the trailer hitch I installed myself (see forum) it pulls much stronger then my previous Ford 2000 explorer.
As far as the Borego, different car. We test drove one and it was quite harsh as compared to the LTD Veracruz we now own.
Different beast altogether.

Yes, I know they are different, that's why I suggested it. Because it's better suited for those who tow more often and tow heavier loads. The Borrego V8 can tow 7500-lbs where the Veracruz is only rated for 3500-lbs.
Also, you are correct about the Veracruz being less harsh than the Borrego. Kia is the more budget oriented division where Hyundai is positioning itself as the luxury division. Think of Kia to Hyundai as what Toyota is to Lexus or Honda is to Acura.

Really? The RWD, V8, body on frame Borrego is a "different beast altogether" from a FWD, V6, unibody Veracruz?

How about the Ford Superduty rated at 16000 lbs. Power Stroke diesel engine that cranks out 350 hp at 650 lb-ft of torque

So he's never going to trade in his vehicle for another vehicle? How do you know he doesn't want to buy a better towing vehicle?
Not any V8 but the Borrego V8. Not much to see but here it is for you:
Because this is a Hyundai board, not a Found On Road Dead board, and because the Veracruz is an SUV, not a pickup.
