Default Electronic throttle systems malfunction

Trying to diagnose an "Electronic throttle control systems fmalfunction" and "Electronic throttle system #2 close"

Sometimes when you start the car, it revs up quickly but then comes back down to normal idle. The throttle also seems to be very sensitive at the lower rpms, hard to be smooth in acceleration from idle to about 3000 rpm.

Im an old school racer and mechanic with little experience in these electronic systems.... any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,

T. Gosch

Don't submit duplicate posts, it's confusing.

Did you get an error code? What is the code?

Sorry,

I didn't think posting it in two different areas would cause confusion.

Error codes P1110 - Electronic throttle systems malfunction
P1175 - Electronic throttle system #2 close

P-1191 - unable to locate
P-1196 - unable to locate

I disconnected the battery in hopes it would activate the check engine light with the idea that I would shut it off immediately and then check the codes again. It hasn't.

If you want to erase the codes, you disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes.

I'm checking up those codes...

What year and model car?

XG doesn't have an electronic throttle system, these are old fashion cables. Azera has an electronic throttle system. Something fishy here...

Cable from the pedal to an electronic box located on right hand firewall. From there to the motor or servo on the throttle body. Directly across from the throttle motor or servo is the TPS switch.

It may start as a mechanical cable but its converted to electronic signal.

There's a TSB (06-36-003) that says when you get both P1110 and P1175 together the problem is:
Description = ETS Valve (Throttle) Stuck Closed #1
Criteria = Checked during key-on. TPS value is lower than expected with throttle closed.
Inspect = Throttle body and TPS

The same TSB say that when you get these 2 together the problem is:
Description = Limp-home mode following malfunction
Critera = Detected malfunction of the throttle plate following the input command
Inspect = Check for a sticky throttle (too much resistance)

I've got a 2002 XG350 throwing P1191/P1193 codes as it dies. They aren't stored, though, apparently because they're considered transient. The TSB says to "Check components which may cause engine stalling / low rpm", which covers pretty much everything under the hood and under the trunk. OBDC data shows movement of the throttle plate in response to accelerator input, but all O2 sensors are at 0, showing lean mixture. Turning the ignition off and back on allows restart and normal operation. I suspect a fuel problem (relay or pump) but the shop wants to replace the throttle body (which was just cleaned). Any ideas for a cheaper solution?

Default p1110

I replaced the TPS on my 2004 Hyundai 3.5 litre 6cyl Santa Fe. Car started fine - took for test ride -checked status and check eng. light was on reporting a P1110 trouble code. Chk eng light was not on prior to changing TPS, so I disconnected battery to clear codes. Now car will not turn over at all. Yes I reconnected the battery. Anything else I should check ? Cranks but does not
turn over.
