How to set timing marks 2001 xg300
#2
Umm,,,, yes, the marks need to align with the reference marks.. start getting teeth off, engine may ding valves, be out of time that engine wont run proper..
4 cam XG is not for the beginner... having fun with the Bank 1 exhaust cam are we ??
Paint mark the old belt to gears --
Transpose marks from old belt to the new belt and reinstall,, can't miss --
Use shop rag to hold belt to crank cog and work way around in counterclowise manner --

Timing
Engine went out of time because crank sproket came off so I cannot mark old belt. I finnally got the marks on by useing little paper clips you squeeze to open. I thought I had all lines on the 5 sprockets lined up. Top dead center on crank and the white dots to the tabs which meant the blue marks on each sprocket lined up. When I put back together engine runs but when you let off gas pedal it stalls. Is there any adjust to move the timing, like with a distributor or something.
