Default xg300 top bolt on strut...help!!!

I have a 2001 xg300. Got the struts off (whew) and cannot get the top bolt off the strut. The bolt just turns with the shaft. Tried impact wrench, tried using vise grips on the tip of the shaft--nothing works, everything just turns. Any idea's??

Which bolt ? The one that clamps the fork to the damper bottom ?

Just cut it and get a new one. I had to replace such bolts on my Trajet since one just shore off when trying to release the nut ...

Or are you talking about the rod nut that attaches the damper/shock to the strut mount ?
Try making it hot. It should be tightenend with 25Nm/18lb-ft only so it's surprising it's that hard to open.

In case you solved your problem in the last 4 months it would be nice to report here.
