Exclamation $6,000 to repair a broken wire !?!

My daughter's 2020 Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD was brought into the Burlington VT dealer for an activated airbag warning light. After investigation, the service agent reported there was a wire that had been severed in a cable that led to one of the airbag sensors in the front of the engine compartment (Images). We're dumbfounded as to how this could have happened, but even more dumbfounded as to the recommended repair. They claim that there is no way to splice these wires because of the danger of a "short" activating the airbag, and that the only remedy is to replace the entire wiring harness to the tune of $6,000US! ($4,500 for the harness + 10 hours@ $150/hr)

Hoping there are some in this forum who can offer some other solutions. For example: Can this one connector be purchased and the wires simply connected to them? (there's enough slack) Are properly spliced wires really not a possible remedy? Does it really cost $4,500 for a wiring harness? Help!
