2009 Sonata gray seats fade to purple
While walking from a store toward my 2009 Sonata, I noticed something very strange in my rear window. The 3 headrests and the rear seat back (bolster to bolster) were turning purple. My original color was GRAY!
In late 2013, I contacted my local dealer, who also sold me the car, and set up an appointment. The service department said that they had never seen or heard of an issue with Hyundai interiors.
Following the service departments inspection, they said there should be no problem with getting it replaced, as there is definitely an issue with the material. Hyundai would have to be notified and once approval was given replacement interior pieces would be ordered and work to replace could be started.
It is April 20, 2015, and only my rear seat back center section has been (recently I might add) replaced. Hyundai refuses to replace my headrests and chose to dye them…..they are now reverting back to that nasty purple color. Oh and Hyundai refuses to replace the headrest because of cost. You see…. the headrest covers are not sold separately! The headrest replacement cost would be 1/18th the cost of the car’s original value at the time of sale ($1,200)……yes Ripley…believe it or not!
Is anyone out there having interior fading issues??
