Dirt Circuit Racing Sonata
Hi all,
Oggy is my name, I own a 1994 Sonata, it is a bit different from your average Sonata as it has been converted to race on Dirt Circuit...www.dirtcircuitsa.com for more info on the sport.
The car has been gutted of its interior and fitted out with a full roll cage, saftey harness and seat, engine and transmission are original and the whole conversion cost less than $1000, cheap entry into a really fun sport.
I have been racing for only 6 months and after 4 race meets, (16 races), i have achieved 3 x 3rd's, 1 x 2nd, and 1 x 1st...
Have had a few minor mechanical issues, 1 lead went faulty during my 2nd race meet, and the transmission ECU played up during my last race meet.
While the car is under-powered in comparison to other cars on the track, various combinations eg, V8 and 6cyl powered rear wheel drive cars, i have FWD traction, 4 wheel disc brakes and drive on dirt completely different to rear wheel drive cars...i still manage to complete races in 1st 2nd or 3rd...w00t...!
So it is now the off season until Feb 2010 and while the car is parked up in the shed, thought i should join up here and maybe ask a few questions and maybe seek a few answers i need...in the meantime, here's a couple of pics, before and after...
the day i picked it up
race day debut
interior, dash gone etc
sideways action
in too deep and going out wide
Cheers,
Oggy
