Hyundai i10 2014 model, fan only kick in after car overheat
Hi Guys,
I have been struggling to get the right answers, i have a 2014 Hyundai i10 which was in a accident about a month ago, everything was fixed, my problem now is, that my radiator fan is only coming on when the car already overheats.
I have replaced cooling fan resistor, new radiator, i have checked my relays, new water pump has been placed on, and a new temp sensor switch. Can anyone help me please, i drive the car to work everyday, currently i need to take public transport and it is not safe.

We don't know until we ask, did everything work fine before the accident repairs?
If so, you or somebody paid to have the repairs done completely. Can you take it back to whoever did the repairs and tell them it is not right.

The shop could be right, we don't know.
To come up with all kinds of explanations without actually looking at your vehicle would not be smart on our part. How much damage was done and to what parts of the vehicle?
If you can't get satisfaction from the present shop, you might consider another shop look it over and pay the charge for the repair.
The 1st shop is aware you might have limited knowledge and is taking advantage of that.
The main thing is to have the problem found and corrected. At least get some estimate from the 2nd shop and you can decide whether you want to just get away from the 1st shop. Unfortunately , there are some places that don't care to keep you as a future customer.

Since the radiator had to be replaced, the coolant drained out and fresh coolant added. Many times if the shop is in a hurry they overlook the proper procedure to get all the trapped air out of the cooling system. When the trapped air expands it causes a lot of pressure within the system and forces coolant out , usually into the recovery bottle and just out, if the bottle is full..
Suggest you just have a different shop check everything .
IF you keep driving it allowing it to overheat, can do a lot of damage and cause addl expense that you don't need now.

Thank you for all the advice Hanky, i actually took it to a different workshop, like they explained they cleaned out all the hoses , like you explained as well, they got out all the air out of the cooling system, also they explained that there was a fault or something with my fan relay, they said that they bypassed it, it is working fine now, how ever how does this relay bypass story work, because they did not explain much.
Once again thanks a lot

All the parts in the system as the manufacturer built it are there for a reason. Believe me if they could have saved a dollar for every car produced by not installing that part , look at how much they can save.
By passing a particular part may provide temporary results and most of the time it puts addl strain on the remaining parts. The real cause should be found and corrected.
