Just bought Wifey a new "2011.5" Sonata
Hello everyone,
I'm joining the boards from Northern VA with a brand new "2011.5" Sonata Limited w/ nav package (not sure if it's officially being called a mid-year vehicle, but it has the upgraded horn and actual eco mode instead of just a dash light). My wife's 2003 Sentra was giving us too much crap, so it was time for her to get a new ride... She was initially leaning toward crossovers, but I tossed a few sedans in the spectrum for her to consider as well... I guided her to a range of vehicles including:
Toyota Camry
Toyota RAV4
Lexus ES350
Nissan Altima
Nissan Rogue
Nissan Murano
Mazda CX-7
Mitsubishi Outlander
Hyundai Sonata
After much time, thought and research (and many test drives) I got my wife hooked on the Sonata. She fell in love with the Limited version in Harbor Grey Metallic w/ Grey interior, so we picked it up on Saturday. We wound up with the PZEV version (Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle) because it was the only one they had with the Grey/Grey Limited combo w/ nav, but the only sacrifice is 6hp for a 50 state vehicle, and I know my wife will never miss it. I can't complain about the decision at all; it's a beautiful car, and even though the dealer through in literally EVERY available accessory (wheel locks, cargo mat, cargo net, floor mats, mud guards and iPod Cable, minus just the sunroof wind deflector), the car was an absolute steal!
Although I also personally considered a Hyundai for my daily driver last year (I considered both the Genesis Sedan and Coupe 3.8), this is the first Hyundai I've actually owned (I wound up choosing a new Infiniti G37S Sedan). I've always been very partial toward Japanese vehicles, however I have been watching Hyundai's progress over the past few years and have been very impressed. The Sonata has a lot to live up to regarding my expectations, I just hope it does!
Anyhow, I look forward chatting with you all and learning the intricacies of our new vehicle!
