Default NEW HERE AND NEED HELP BAD!!

Hello and thanks in advance to anyone that can help out. I have a 2005 Tucson with a 2.7 v6 sitting in my driveway i have to fix for my sister(she is too broke to PAY for help so here is sits). The problem is no spark. I found bare wires on the crank sensor so replaced it right off the bat and no help. The problem is i cant find any spec to test the coils or anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

10yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty on this, 5yr/60,000 mile for almost everything else. Why are you working on it? Don't tell the dealer you worked on it, and put the original part back on.

Now if it's used, did it come with a warranty?

Ah.Good reason. I think you might want to check all the fuel system sensors; the Crank Position Sensor is a good start. If any of them is bad, the car won't start. If you know anyone with a scanner that you can take to the car, that may help identify the bad sensor. Or you can just test each sensor individually. Check all the fuses too, especially for the fuel pump and the SNSR fuse (at least that's what it's called on my Elantra).

Register at and use http://www.hmaservice.comto access Hyundai's service manuals (couple of tips- it only works with Internet Explorer browser, and if the password is not sent to you immediately, go back in and do the "Forgot Password" thing).

Good luck.

So a fuel system problem will stop spark?? I was wondering about that as i knew some cars were set up like that, How do i check for fuel flow, i cant find the valve on the intake that i usually use to check. As for scanning codes, I did that and nothing. I am trying to get logged into theservice site right now.

I am a big fan of wrenching on my own cars, BUT, in the case of new cars with fuel/spark problems, you are really taking a shot in the dark.

Do you know a reputable local mechanic that has the skills/equipment to properly diagnose the problem?

Your sister might not have the cash to pay a mechanic, but, does she have the money to throw parts at it in hopes of fixing it? Electronic parts are generally not returnable.

Good Luck.

No. The tach is powered by the ignition system and only moves when the engine has started.

So the crank sensor has been replaced, would the coils be the next thing to check. I checked one and it was within the specs that hmaservice.com gave but couldnt get to the terminals on the other, so i will have to pull it off to check it. After that what would be the next thing to check?
