newbie with '10 Elantra Touring -- and a small rant
Just got my Elantra Touring -- I wanted an efficient wagon to replace my ancient Subaru, and the Hyundai fit the bill price-wise and efficiency-wise.
I like everything about the car except... the manual transmission variant doesn't come with cruise control in the U.S. It's not even an option on the most expensive, all-options version of the car, as long as you also want a manual transmission.
The truly mind-boggling part, to me, is that the European version of the car, the i30, apparently has cruise as either an option or a standard feature for the manual, as does the Canadian version of the Elantra Touring.
Hyundai's answer is: go to a non-Hyundai shop and have an aftermarket cruise control unit put on. This seems insane to me -- why would I want to put aftermarket parts under the hood of my brand new car?
Looks like I have no other option, though. I'm seeing if I can get the parts to put an i30 or Canadian cruise unit on my car, but I'm not holding my breath.
