confused Lantra owner
I have what is known in Australia an Hyundai Lantra. It is a 1994 model with an 1800cc dohc 16 valve engine. the engine is aligned to the left side of the car as you sit in the car. In the US, the timing cover end of the motor is in front of the driver. (LHD). In Aus, in front of the passenger (RHD). I thought my model was the J2 and the 1995 on models were J3 etc. They (J3) have the motor aligned in the opposite direction ie the timing cover is near the right side of the car, as you sit in the car.
Is this correct? Is my model the J2?
And why do Hyundai make a motor that drops timing belts so readily? I notice on this forum that even the current models are doing it! Maintenance does not seem to be relevant as one of the members had the job done and the belt let go after a very short period of time.
